They are significant. As designers of the Multihaven 37, sold to Nauticstar Marine Qingdao, along with master moulds and provided with on site skills training for a considerable period of time, we wish we could recommend purchase. Regrettably any companies results are a direct reflection of the quality of its management. Nauticstar Marine is typical of many of the embyonic high tech manufacturers of China at the present time. Employee turnover is greater than 100% per annum. The skills base of the factory floor is repeatedly diminished and lost. Vessels continue to be produced with significant defects, both cosmetic and structural.
Vessels supplied to customers without rudders, with missing steering components, inappropriate engines fitted, even supplied without a significant proportion of the specified standing rigging for sail models. Paint peeling within weeks of delivery, vessels brought into collision and poorly repaired during sea trials before shipping, so many defects we cannot list them all, design and engineering modifications or Improvements, Nauticstars euphemism for Make Cheaper. Improvements that frankly could imperil the safety of crew and passengers.
The company under its present management flagrently ignore written contractural obligations. Little recourse is available to potential purchases, non residents of China.
There are many manufacturers of Multihull vessels in China, even in the Olympic Sailing City of Qingdao, we do not believe all manufacturers are as poorly managed or as unscrupulous and dishonest as Nauticstar Marine has proven themselves to be, however oversight on your behalf by a Western Accredited Marine Surveyor of the construction of any vessel, is strongly recommended as necessary to ensure a satisfactory build. Regardless the manufacturer chosen.
We sincerely regret Nauticstar Marine have proven themselves incapable of producing a satisfactory vessel. The Multihull designs are Naval Architect approved and accredited for commercial service by Australia’s strictest Marine Authorities. We as designers feel it an imperative to protect the safety of Mariners as a foremost responsibility. We therefore strongly suggest if you require a Multihaven Catamaran you purchase a vessel constructed here in Australia.
Be extremely wary of making any purchase of a Multihaven 37 design catamaran constructed in China by Nauticstar Marine.
